What's special of this expedition?
This 11 day camping safari covers three remote and contrasting regions: the open grasslands and salt pans of the Makgadikgadi, the remote desert environment of the Central Kalahari Game Reserve, and the pristine wetlands of the Okavango Delta.
The game viewing in these arid areas of Botswana are at their best just after the rains, and it is during this period of March and April that we offer scheduled and customized safaris to these regions. Accommodation is in tents with beds and bedding, and a cook and camphand handle the camp chores.

Itinerary:
| Day 1 - Day 4 | Maun - Central Kalahari Game Reserve - Deception Valley |
|
| Arrival
Maun Airport in the morning
|
The guide and vehicle meet you and charter to Deception Valley,
| Deception Valley Activities centre on early morning and afternoon game drives to areas of interest within the Central Kalahari, including the legendary Deception Pan. |
Deception Valley, made famous by
Mark and Delia Owens in their book "The Cry of the Kalahari".
The pre-erected camp is set under the camel thorns on one of the numerous
"tree islands" in the valley.
The breathtaking colours and dramatic desert skies provide an amazing backdrop to this unforgettable area, and photographic opportunities abound.
|
|
| After dinner around the campfire, park regulations permitting, we may take an evening drive to search for the rare and elusive brown hyena, Kalahari Lion and the other nocturnal creatures of the Kalahari. | ||

|
| Makgadikgadi
Pans Game Reserve
|
This area is particularly beautiful after the rains have fallen, and when the pans fill up with water they often attract waterfowl in vast numbers. Large herds of Gemsbok and Springbok can occur, and one of Southern Africa's last Zebra and Wildebeest migrations takes place here when they move into the area to enjoy the good grazing and ample water.

Mokoro Trails Camp - Okavango Delta Water Experience
| We drive back to Maun and then transfer by light aircraft into the Okavango Delta to our Mokoro Trails Camp. | ||
| Mokoro Trails
Camp
We spend the next two days exploring the lush Okavango waterways by mokoro, in total contrast to the Kalahari. Other activities in the area include walking on the smaller islands, swimming in the crystal clear waters, birdwatching and possibly enjoying an occasional game drive.
|
The camp is in a
secluded concession area, and privacy is assured.
We may be lucky enough to see the elusive Sitatunga antelope or Pels Fishing Owl in the region. The serenity of these three days will be the perfect memory of this safari.
