Features of Tibet:
The Roof of the World (Tibet)
is an unique place for geological studies on the Earth. It
has an
area of 2.5 million km2, a mean elevation of 4,500 m, and a crust
thickness of over 70 km. It has the highest mountain and the largest canyon in
the world. It is the frontier of continents tectonic and still geologically
active. There
are many interesting geological features and varieties of geological and
geophysical issues to be discovered and understood.
