The Nu River (Tibet) Geological Expedition 2000 (7 - 19 August)

Dispatch  I  ---  First time in the history

By  Lui Li

7 Aug. 2000

Weather: rain, clouded, cold

I went to Tibet Plateau every year, however this time when I sat in the vehicle driving from Naqu County to the Expedition start point --- Naqu Bridge, I felt emotional excitement . . .

Because this will be the real "First time of First River Expedition" for myself. "First!" is the target of all competitive issues. "First Discovery", "First invention",, "First Record",  Now we will be the "First Descent of the Nu River Headwaters Expedition"!

From Naqu to Biru is the originate region of Nu River, it had never been explored before. I started to understand the agitations of "First" River explorers.

All members of the Expedition before the launching.

2.00pm, we arrived the start point of this Expedition. Suddenly, the clouded sky poured down heavy rain, it's getting cold. We ate a little food, then beginning to prepare our equipments. We have 3 advanced Equipment yachts, 5 kayaks and 1 rubber boat all together. I am pleased to take this opportunity to do expedition with Peter Winn and wish to learn more from his very rich experience on river expeditions.

4:00 pm, all preparing works finished. We held a simple ceremony for this Expedition. Then started our adventure on the originate region of the Nu River.
