In this topographically complex region, mountains run from North to South, cut by major rivers. With towering peaks, deep valleys, the most diverse temperate  flora & fauna and the most beautiful scenes, it is one of the richest botanical resources in the world, the home of many rare animals: Giant panda, red panda, golden monkey ..) 

This expedition is in its core region - western Sichuan. It was chosen by New Zealand Academy of Science (29 members) because its stunning beauty  and richness of rare plants / wildlife.

Itinerary: 

Day 1 Arrive Chengdu Expedition Guide will meet you at Cheengdu Airport.

Day 2

 

Chengdu City Tour Chengdu is a famous ancient city and has lots of historical sites,
Day 3  Chengdu -Dujiangyan   

Dujiangyan Irrigation System was built 2700 years ago and it works until today. It made the West-Sichuan Plain became the richest agriculture. 

Visit Dujiangyan Irrigation System. - A World Natural &  Cultural  Heritage.
Visit Qingcheng Mountian (Taoism temples and good forest).
Stay at Golden Leaf Hotel. 
 Day 4  Dujiangyan - Wolong Natural Reserve (By Coach)
Wolong Narural Reserve (200,000 hectares) -About 100 pandas are survived here. Beaytiful mountains, deep valleys, waterfalls, springs, primitive forests, mild climate  and fresh air provide the pandas a happy home.
Visit Wolong Natural Reserve - the World Famous Giant Panda Natural Reserve The Reserve has::
(1) Exhibition Hallof wildlife specimens.
(2) Giant Panda Research Centre.
(3) A brooding Site of rare animals.
(4) Open-field Ecological Monitoring Station for the Giant Panda.

Day 5  Wolong - Mt. 4 Sisters Natural Reserve (By Coach) Mt. 4 Sisters is the "Queen of Sichuan Mountains", the  second highest mountain (6250 m) in Sichuan.
Visit Double-Bridge Valley, Zhangpin Valley etc. With an elevation of 2000m to 6250m, Mt. 4 Sisters is a botanical neaven. - Primul, Gentiana, Paeoia sgechuanica etc.

Day 6  Botanical expedition in  Mt. 4 Sisters Wilson discovered a famous tree here, the Cupressus chengiana. He was surprised for the well growing of this tree in the dried valley area.

Day 7  Mt. 4 Sisters - Xiaojin (By Coach) Travel along the MingRiver valley; over riding the Mt. Balong; arrived Xiaojin County.
Visit lots of famous stone Castle Houses.
Visit 19 Century Cathedral.
Xianjin is a famous County on China's war history.
Xiaojin - Markang (By Coach). Markang is the Capital of Aba Autonomous Prefecture (Tibetan & Qiang Nations). 
On the 4200m Mt. Dream Pan, along the way, you will see ,Large areas of primitive forests with Pinus tabulaeformis, Abies faxcniana, Picea purpurea etc.
Stay at Markang Hotel.
Day 8  Markang - Hongyuan (By Coach)
Enjoy the charming scenes of the large grassy plain  and Minority traditional Festivals. Hongyuan is a famous glassy plain city. Numerous wild flowers blooming in June - August. Many horse racing Festivals are held here.

Day 9  Visit Lama Temple.
Botanical & Ecological expedition on the large glassy plain.

Day 10 (Sun.) Hongyuan - Chuanzhusi - Huanglong (Yellow Dragen) - Chuanzhusi(By Coach)
Botanical & Ecological expedition on the large glassy plain Yellow-Dragon (Huanglong) Natural Reserve is a World Natural Heritage. (70,000 hectares). Another famous "Panda fairyland".
Visit Yellow-Dragon Natural Reserve  - A World Natural Heritage (Golden Sand-Beach, Huanglong Temple, Five color Pool etc). 
The Monument of Red Army is bright under the setting sun in Chuanzhusi

Day 11   Chuanzhusi - Mounigou - Chuanzhusi (By Coach)
Visit Mounigou Natural Reserve. Having one day travel by horse in Mounigou. It is also a famous place for its landscape and  plants.

Day 12  Chuanzhusi - Jiuzhaigou (By coach)
Visit Jiuzhaigou Natural Reserve - A World Natural Heritage (Chagua Valley, Rize Valley, Shuzheng Sea, Ruorilang Waterfall, Dragon Sea, Peacock Sea, Panda Sea etc)   Jiuzhaigou Natural Reserve is a World Natural Heritage (72,000 hectares, plus a buffer zone 60,000 hectares) With its beautiful scenes, un-disturbed primitive forest, many rareplants & animals. It is known as one of the "Panda Fairyland".

Day 13 - Day 14   Botanical & Ecological expedition in Jiuzhaigou Natural Reserve.
Evening - Enjoy the Folk Dance Show.

Day 15  Jiuzhaigou - Pingwu - jiangyou (By Coach)
Botanical & Ecological expedition along the way. (large area of azalea on mountains and good flora )
Visit Tibetan villages on the way
Visit Baoen Temple in Pingwu. Baoen Temple was built in Ming Dynasty. The acreage is about 27000M2 . All the temple was made of  sandal-wood.
Stay at Jiangyou Hotel. 
Day 16 Visit Doutuanshan, another mountain famous for its flora and beautiful landscapes

Botanical & Ecological expedition in Mt. Ermei - A World Natural & Cultural Heritage. Located on the southwest periphery of the Sichuan Basin, Mt. Emei has derived its name from the scenery where two peaks stand facing each other resembling the delicate eyebrows of a Chinese classic beauty. It is 3099m above sea level. Natural spendor set off by various architectures add charm and radiance to each other. On top of that, there are on the Golden Summit spectacular displays of Sunrise, Buddhist Halo, a Sea of Cloud and the 'Sacred Lamp'. It is also famous for its flora.

Day 20  Mt. Ermei - Chengdu (By coach)
