 Deciduous shrub, 1-2.5m high to 3.5m the highest. Binato-ternate compound leaf, with beautiful coppery color.2-4 flowers, terminal or axillary, 8-12cm in diameter, yellow petals, filaments and anthers, 1-2 capels.

Flowering: May.  
Fruiting: August to September.

Heliophyllous and  thermophyllous but cannot endure heat and poor soil.  Growing in the Yalung tsangpu River valleys and forestedge of Tibet Linzhi, Milin areas only. A treasure of ornamental and breeding plant.

There is another Paeonia species in Tibet Linzhi area: P.delavayi f. superba with smaller flowers, red filaments and 3-5 capels.
